Price differences often also are a result of different warranty levels (shop takes care of everything vs you have to deal with the manufacturer yourself). I don't know what the standards (or the laws) are in Finland.

Sorry to reply to an old thread...could have probably started a new one, but this may interest others.

I spoke with an employee at Verkkokauppa about a new camera lens and asked what their return policy is. As mentioned earlier in this thread, she said no returns unless you buy online, which is up to 14 days. She even continued to say, that you can open the product and try it out, and if you're not satisfied, you can return it - no questions asked.

Now this sounds almost too good to be true in Finland (as in Canada, we can do something similar, but with a 30 day return policy).

Has anyone done this here before, or heard of such stories? Would this work with electronics as well (e.g. Playstation/Xbox)?

the "returns allowed if you buy/reserve online" is the law in finland and also the UK, it might even be imposed by the EU.

buying online (even if you just reserve online and collect from the shop in person) is counted as "distance selling". in which case there is the possibility to return the goods even if you opened the box.

going to the shop without a reservation is not distance selling and so the shop can decide whether they allow you to return items bought that way.

some shops in finland are adopting "click and collect", like gigantti but some others have a long way to catch up.
