Another stupid law in Finland

You could just see the law as an ability to stop feeding alcohol to people from certain places.

If you haven't noticed; there is a sh_tload of restrictions for the sales of alcohol. This is just one of them (and not even the most restrictive one).

Yes of course. Numerous restrictions related toi alcohol we have had (at least for about hundred years. Does it make sense? - well maybe at least more than some of the restrictions with bars (there is also a restriction on how early in the morning a supermarket can sell beer)

After all at 11 pm nobody comes to buy milk, but certainly would buy alcohol.

Well, some of them are open at late evening so they are obviously selling something else than beer - and for family with small kids milk is a kind of stuff that you can go and buy at awkward times if you suddenly notice somebody made a miscalculation.

Sure, if it were legal the supermarkets would be selling beer too (even though it probably would generate also more security related problems)

You can buy Beer from K market, S market, R kisoki and other stores till 9 pm, after that the stores are not allowed to sell. Why is that so?

No idea. Is it a big problem for you? Should you seek help? It does seem a petty restriction, but in the grand scheme of things, for me at least, it doesn't rate too highly on a list of life's annoyances.

I disagree. Only a few days ago I stopped at an ABC fuel station to buy milk at 2 am when on my way home from a trip away. There was no milk in fridge at home and I wanted some for breakfast time so it is good that I could buy some. It would not have been the end of the world if I had been unable to do so, but it would have been more of an inconvenience than being without a beer.

If the store opens till 11 pm then they should be allowed to sell Alcohol till they are open. After all at 11 pm nobody comes to buy milk, but certainly would buy alcohol.

How do you propose that roger roger laws would apply to shops open 24h? 24h alcohol sales? you see nothing wrong in that when the state is trying to limit the easy access to alcohol. In a bar the staff might exercise some control in serving you endless drinks but from a supermarket you can buy an endless supply (you might reply that someone can buy a month's worth in one go and drink around-the-clock anyway but I think most alcoholic types are too mentally challenged to think ahead like that).

As for buying milk at 11pm, last week I flew back to finland, landed at 2am and bought a carton from Alepa at the airport, who had shutters over the alcohol section. nobody buys milk at 11pm.. really!

No excuse for not being able to buy a bottle of wine in the supermarket. There are a lot of pissheads about though. Every day I see people going in S market and buying those little cans of Koff. Headache tackle.

take a look around. even with those laws Finland has a huge alcohol problem.

if you ask something crazy do you know that alcohol law also requires clubs that are open till 4 am to have a coat hanging. That's why they have to have it and charge money for that (extra stuff and space)

Before, they couldn't mention their hard liquors online, only in their paper catalogs, as it was considered "advertising alcohol products" which is forbidden.

Marketing of stronger alcoholic drinks is forbidden, even for "the goverment", except inside ALKO stores. You've probably noticed an occasional private commercial beer advert, while you can't find price listing of Vodkas in Alko online.

Over here you can buy any sort of alcohol at any time as long as the shop is open

There are non-stop hypermarkets you can buy whenever you want whatever you want..
At petrol/gas stations you can buy vodka,whiskey,rum or whatever they have on shelf any time..
Of course at grocery store you can buy beer,wine and strong alcohol too but usually only up to 52%.

Strongest alcohol sold without any restriction is 82% liqueur. yes. 82%,sweet as honey, strong as hell.
Strongest beer over here that you can buy 24/7 is called Double.That's about 9-10% of alcohol content, double over standard 4-5%.. yes.

I wonder what alcohol prices in Finland are, for example 0,7l bottle of 70% green Absinth cost around 14€ over here, it can cost 20€ at pub though..

That is actually great news for me, will it be possible now to see which shop has what? I am getting tired of Alko shifting bottles from one place to another just to make me run. Alcohol is an interesting problem in Finland, rich and colorful history.
