My grandfather is Finnish, can i apply for RP?
Re: My grandfather is Finnish, can i apply for RP?
Well, you do not need to prove anything about him then. But your father/mother is not nor never was a Finnish citizen? (I guess that could be if your grandparents were never married)

Have we excluded that OP is actually a Finnish citizen without knowing it? (I don´t know how people can not keep track of things like that, but it seems to happen all the time). OP: Your parent is deffo not Finnish?

He's been rather stingy with the facts. If that is to his detriment, I can't help it. One of his parents likely was a Finnish citizen at birth (and then lost it). Whether or not that was the case, that parent could (if alive) likely (re)gain the citizenship easily. Ten years ago OP could have actually used the same to gain citizenship for himself by using the temporarily valid section 60 of then new nationality act, now I guess he'll need to settle for residence permit initially.interleukin wrote:Have we excluded that OP is actually a Finnish citizen without knowing it?

Yeah, that's what I was thinking, if his parent had been Finnish and the OP maybe even was Finnish at some point. It may not help for the RP, but getting citizenship is WAY easier if you used to have it.
