Thanks for that info, pursuivant. I did have a closer look and discovered there are actually 10 different Sami languages, with 6 having their own written standards! Quite an interesting subject.

Onkko - If you have no idea of rhyming slang, you might not understand a lot of Southern English. The Welsh language is alive, although only a third of the Welsh population speak it. Smaller number of Scots actually speak Gaelic. A large number of Irish do speak Gaelic.

And if you go to Liverpool, I suggest you buy a 'Scouse Dictionary'. Thanks to the input from Vikings, Danes, Romans and French, the English language, coupled with local idiom, can vary greatly from County to County. SO you just MIGHT need to relearn English as you know it. lol :D
