AldenG, I didn't mean to give you a brain aneurysm that you could use your Obamacare to fix. All I know to comment on is from my own personal experience with Obamacare. I am receiving bills for $995 for a medical procedure I use to pay $15 for. I understand full well that the Finnish system of healthcare is the idol of Obamacare. However, from what I understand, Finland has been pulling off FOR DECADES (quite well) what Obamacare failed miserably at. Just saying.

Yes, quite well because we pay heavy taxes to get us that care. Americans want everything for free without paying the higher taxes for it.

It's not a perfect system do you realise? To get a doctor's appointment at your local terveyskeskus can take a long time. Specialists even more.

Council housing, or city housing I mean is different depending on the building, how old it is, size etc. So you can't say just that one low number.

Why do you want to come here? Because you see "free" everything? And benefits? Nothing is free here.

I agree, nothing is really free here, theres some consequence i dont understand , but i believe an analogy is "move 2 feet forward, dig 1 foot down"
Only come to finland to make money,or follow a loved one.

I think finding a job is easy here,or it can be easy, but the job wont be a career move and it wont lead you to saving money, unless your the "immigrants immigrant", 3 to a room.2 families to a house.
Cutting every cost etc etc.

Nothing is ever free, anywhere. The main reasons I want to come there are as follows:

A.) Want kids to learn language, culture and have a relationship with my family, specifically my grandparents.
B.) Want kids to have a better place to grow up. Here, they can barely go outside without being exposed to sex, drugs and violence, including kidnapping.
C.) I really miss it.

I guess no one can say that Finland is not a very safe country (by over all country comparison) .

The usual case though is, that the husband finds this board after 3+6 months in Finland, asking "Where can I find a job for English speaker in Nowheremäki" that you need to Google to find. Then he gets all stroppy when we tell him that no, theres no jobs for speakers or mutes either since the 70s the last inhabitants moved to Sweden, and its his own choice to move at the inlaws farm "as its cheap" and unless he starts to plough the fields which brings in less money than letting them be fallow, the only job he has is counting the trees...

On the choice of towns in this case,I just remember Vares in the movie "mikä v!%# teitäporilaisia oikein vaivaa"

Now, if they owned a large parcel of land, he could cut firewood and sell it ... I am only half joking! Trick is having enough money to buy the land! I have often thought to do this myself!

In all seriousness though, I do not see that moving her family to Finland turning out any worse than their current situation. I do see the husband struggling for quite some time, and would recommend some sort of "job making" on his part.
