How much money should I request?
How much money should I request?
Hi! I am currently searching for a job. I am en english speaking person and I have worked in Finland for one year as a communication specialist. I hold two masters in the relevant subject. The "problem" let's say is that I am searching for a new job now and a lot of them are asking me to write them the desired salary. But I don't know how much to request. The only thing I know is that I was paid really low in my previous company for finnish standards. Also, I don't want to ask for a really high salary but I don't want a really low one obviously. So what is it a normal salary for positions like that?

Well, it seems that you know how much you should be paid (or should have been paid). So what is the problem?neronakos wrote:.... The only thing I know is that I was paid really low in my previous company for finnish standards. ...
As far as we do not know how much you have been paid, I do not think that we can honestly help.
Salary expectation is a tricky question. If you ask for too low, then they tend to think that you are desperate to get the job or you are incapable of
evaluating the job task properly.
If you ask for too much, then they will think that you are too expensive for the job.

With the very little information you provided, my guess is that your salary range is between 3500 to 4500 € before tax.

Re: How much money should I request?
Thanks I really don't know.
I know that it is too little because other people have told me so. I really had no idea before. And also, I was working part-time so I thought the ammount was ok.
(It was close to 1000 for 20h per week)
And this is the point, that I don't want to ask for too much, neither I know the minimum.
All I am asking is how much is the minimum for a job in the marketing or communication.
In order to write about it when they are asking for it in the cv.
I found this link that it says that the minimum is 2700.

Re: How much money should I request?
Hi, again.
So you have been at part-time work and you also know the minimun wage the labor union is calculating.
If I were you, I'd ask for 3000€ and up (depending on how valuable your two master's degrees are and how important the job you are looking for is).
Be ready to accept the salary 3000 plus minus a few hundreds €.
Nowadays, it is important to get a steady job so please be flexible.
Good luck.

Join a union in your field and then you can ask them to help you come with a reasonable salary request.neronakos wrote:Yes but I found the link after I post this post.

It also depends on how big/small the company is, if they have good or not so good prospects and so on.
