Non EU Citizen marrying a non EU Citizen in EU

Post by Atentar » Fri Apr 18, 2014 5:52 pm

Hi, quick question here, OK if someone can share their thoughts on how is it to a Non EU Citizen who want to marry a non EU Citizen, I was married to a Finn and divorced two years ago, we do have a daughter with my X, I have been living in Finland for four years, i am Non EU Citizen and i met this Sweet Japanese Girl who was studying here in Finland but now back to Japan, we have agreed to get married, and i have to fly to Japan, marry her, then apply for a residence permit so that she can join me here... I do have a job, its not permanent though, So i don't know if the residence permit will work with the immigration for her to join me here after we are married, i just want to get some opinion of what i should do, if this is even going to work , etc , i am just not sure .!
Just some addition, I have no criminal records, i do pay my bills on time, i have shared custody with my X, i have been working for two years now, etc

If you gave job, and the income matches the migri requirements, then I don't see why you should have problems with a residence permit. Find out the Japanese requirements, get the papers from Finland, get married, bring the right papers to the embassy to register the marriage here as well and then submit the RP application at the embassy. Wait a few months.

- and it is called a "residence permit" not a "visa" that she needs.

Seems like you wanted to negate the second sentence.

You just need to make sire you read & understand the rules at MIGRI, especially the "income requirement" bit. And the way to "read" those rules is not "I hope/wish/think" or "I am special", but rather "any excuse they will find to say NO they will..." You won't succeed by crossing the i's an dotting the t's
