Hi! Is there anyone here who knows how to repair a laptop computer? And how to get the files out of it? It might have gotten a virus, the Startup Repair has tried to repair it but can't. I don't want to run the HP Recovery Manager, because then all files will be lost... Could anyone help, please?

To start in Safe Mode, you press (or hold down, if need be) F8 during reboot.
But even if that fails, hope is not lost.
There are CDs and special flash drives that can be used to boot your computer, and then you can copy your files to a USB drive.
If booting from CD or flash drive fails, it is still usually possible to remove the hard drive, attach it to an adapter, and copy your files that way. Depending on the type of damage, that may be simple or difficult, but it is rarely impossible.
You may not be able to do all of these things yourself, especially the more advanced options, but the point is: don't just give up and say goodbye to your files. It is very likely (but not certain) that somebody can rescue your files for you, before you do a full recover. The tools and methods exist, and it is only a matter of finding the person who can do this at a price you can afford.
