Maternity leave after living abroad

Post by case » Wed Apr 30, 2014 2:56 pm

If a Finnish woman has been living abroad and wants to return to Finland for the birth of a child, will maternity leave payment be granted immediately, or are there restrictions if a Finn has been living abroad and not working and paying taxes in Finland, etc?

(information isn't as good in English). The same applies for the parental leave period afterwards.

If one full fills the condition above but lacks work history (AFAIK work history abroad does not compensate, but I do not really know the current EU rules -probably best to ask from KELA), one gets the minimum level benefits.
