Its one of the 17 obscure sports they show on Finnish sports news before they show the premiership goals ;-)

Its like ice hockey but with a ball instead of a puck and the pitch is huge. It sems to be played on frozen football pitches in the winter here

>> What "ice ball" game? <<

"Ice ball" is "bandy" in English, if I am correctly informed. Some info here :

Bandy has been played in Finland some 20-30 years longer before hockey. It started to loose popularity in the 1950's only. Theres still strong local teams. (Like Porvoon Akilles)

Yep looks a fun game to play. Especially as the rules seem to be identical to football 8)

Finnish pubs and Ilta papers are full of speculation as the whether Saku Koivu is going to dash to Prague to revive the Finnish Lions..he is now available as Montreal Canadians crashed out of the StanleyCup yesterday losing their series 4-0 to Tampa Bay..
Hope that Temu Selanne would also become available did not happen as Colorado Avalanche won their match against San Jose so they stay in with a chance even though they 1-3 down in the series (best of five..)
But Selanne being available would also make his Avalance Swedish team mate Peter Forsberg available and it was his class that turned around Sweden from 5 -0 down against Finland to win 5-6 in the last world championships.

It has to be the most common question in Finnish pub Trivial pusuits...
"Who has won the Ice hockey world championship more time GB or Suomi?"
Correct answer is they have both won it only once.
But 80% of Finns get it wrong.
If you want to be really nit picking and go way back in history..GB have won twice...1910 and 1936.
