Hi All,

I got Finnish Citizenship just before I turned 30. I am now 30 and have not received military call-up as of yet.
Can I apply for passport?

And you wont receive military call up because you are 30, thats in peace time. If !"#¤% hits a fan you as any citizen are by law part of military and will be pointed to work what is deemed best for country be it military or civil.
You can apply for passport.

3) to a person who is 28 years of age or older and is subject to military service until the end of the year in which he turns 30,
unless he can prove that his duty to provide for national defence is not an impediment to issuing a passport."

Should I just ignore this and go ahead and apply?

You are 30 or over so there is no need to prove anything.
Too old to be drafted.
Remember that this is for peace time, if war comes you are soldier like rest of us.

From Section 37 of the Conscription Act:

Conscription liability in peacetime ends at the end of the year in which the person liable for military service turns 30 years of age.

There's still time to do a six month tour. Maybe onkko implies this is not likely to happen. I would trust the police on applying for passport.

I got my decision yesterday Below is the order of events :
19.05.2014 Decision has been made. You will now be notified of the decision either through this e-service or by other means.
19.05.2014 Application decision is being notified.
19.05.2014 Application is being processed.
05.02.2014 Application has been initiated.
28.01.2014 Application has been received.

So it was exactly 3 months and 14 days from the day of initialization.

P.S : My friend is Finnishlad and I am Finnishlad2 lol.

I have just gotten my passport. police called army authorities if i needed to go there, apparently they replied just leave him alone

Can someone give an overview of all the documents required for application? I am in the middle of filling an electronic application and the last page where documents should be attached is quite confusing. I have also heard from different applicants about different supporting documents.

Did you try to give them a call migri.fi to find out your situation? In the migri.fi webpage it seems they are still handling the applications submitted during January,2014 and they are also busy with student permits which they give priority over other application at this time since their studies will commence soon.

No, i didnt call them cause i ve read in the website that they are handling january apps. So i was thinking to write here and see if any has the same situation or so.

My application went in just after that and I've also had no updates. No point in us calling them, it will just delay things further.

I think we should just wait cause surely summer holidays and student applicationz slows down processing time.

So you may be expecting it by Octorber considering the 7 months line and also assuming they are processing that of January 2014 application at the moment.
