Hi I'm visiting Finland - flying into Helsinki airport and was wondering how to get to the train station to Imatra? Is the best way a taxi or are there busses / subway that also goes there?
Thank you for you advises!!

Generally getting to the railway station:
The local traffic bus (regular Vantaa-Helsinki fair applies) 615 drives from airport to main railwy station. The estimated travel time ( http://aikataulut.reittiopas.fi/linjat/en/s615.html ) is 35 minutes (can be more in heavy traffic). Single ticket from the driver (the most expensive option) is 5€ (transfer righst in other public transport for 1h 20 min from purchase). FInnair city bus (that leaves you to the other side of the railway station than 615 - which is better depends where you're going, for tking a train there is not much difference) costs 6.3€, accepts credit cards and is probably slightly faster than the regular 615 line.

Taxi fair is probably slightly below 50€ (1-2 persons, the local taxis are generally honest, predictable, but rather expensive), the Yellow line airport taxi is 29.5€ (for 1-2 persons), but as you have toe likely wait about 10 minutes and the taxi may make extra stops to drop other passengers, the latter one probably does not make sense (combared to bus) if you really want to the railway station itself (and not a hotel six blocks away with heavy suitcases)
Specifically going to Imatra by train: you can also take the bus 61 (about 25 minutes) to Tikkuila railway station, or taxi if you're in a hurry (20€?), and take the train that left from Helsinki main railway station from there.

Re: How to get from Helsinki airport to train station
I think all eastbound trains stop at Tikkurila station and that is quite close to the airport. If you take the bus to helsinki city centre you travel 15km south and then catch the train to travel 15km north again. The airport website will have details of the bus connections to tikkurila.
sadly the train station under the airport won't open for a year or so, since then there will the a direct train link from the airport to tikkurila and the city centre.

Depending on when you arrive, there are direct long distance coaches from the airport to Imatra.
Express Bus have two direct ones / day.
It may save you the expense, hassle and worry about changing especially if you have luggage. They take 4½ hours but if the time suits you, may be quicker than taking a bus into town and then waiting for a train.

Re: How to get from Helsinki airport to train station
I would prefer the Finnair city bus over the regular 615 bus. You won't save much money and most probably you will be crammed in this public transport bus with suitcases and other travelers with all seats occupied. Now, you reminded me of these snowy cold night arrivals and commuting to the hotel/apartment. Somehow, I feel nostalgic.

Leaving from airport the order of stops is Terminal 1 -> Terminal 2. It has never happened to me that it would have been full when arriving at Terminal 2 stop.atas wrote:I would prefer the Finnair city bus over the regular 615 bus. (but specifically here, there is no sense in going to downtown Helsinki in order to get to Imatra)

There is a timetable link above for line 615Cory wrote:Correct me if I'm wrong but the Airport- train station city bus is 415 not 615. Important distinction for a visitor.
Re: How to get from Helsinki airport to train station
615 runs constantly during the day/evening
Re: How to get from Helsinki airport to train station
I don't know if there is a 415, but 615 is what I took once from the airport to the railway station.
