Online Banking
Re: Online Banking
No - it was specifically itemized as sending out a new code card - and that is new
Yes - there is also a 2-3€ per month charge for just having such an account
Next will be a charge for each access separately - we wouldn't want those Bankers losing their Lexus privileges!

You sound like you speak from personal experience, but I'm still bit wondering...harryc wrote:No - it was specifically itemized as sending out a new code card - and that is new

Monthly fee for access codes 3,00 €
Re: Online Banking
Hope ur right
I see on net u sent:
Monthly fee for access codes 3,00 €
I had seen on my statement and it lookd to me like the sending of cards - and I have bn paying 2.50-3 for acct
Maybe it's all been melted into the moniker 'access codes' - and the acct fee will go away (or not).
The whole story is Rip-Off Inc. - but guess I can be glad not associated with US bank - from what I hear on NPR - the fee story there is even more ridiculous.
What gets me is that the people actually doing the work in banks get paid pittance - and have to fight for every penny - meanwhile the Fat Cats take it away in wheelbarrows!

Re: Online Banking
I opened my account at Nordea in summer 2013. Back then I was an unemployed immigrant pending for KELA application. At that time, I was told that I was eligible to get a simple account without e-banking. The bank clerk explained to me that I had to have a steady income for 6 months in order to be able to get e-bank codes.
Re: Online Banking

Re: Online Banking
Nordea and Danske. Additionally OP has mobile and text based versions of their net bank available in Englishtkf wrote:What finnish online banks have english language?
I think at least the two mentioned above first have all the information online also in English. The answer is too complicated (depending on your age and then on how much services you use) that I'd try to write it here. What are the costs?
Yeah, can anybody enlighten on this based on experience? One could think that the European SEPA area should mean that one could pay bills without too much trouble also using some other western European bank...?Is there any other options i.e international bank or whatever
Re: Online Banking
I can only tell of Swiss banks, since that is where my money is. Swiss banks have a lower limit where they accept foreign customers, which currently is 100¨000 CHF. I did not check ALL banks, since I am not working with the global sharks out of principle. The more local and alternative banks all gave me the same info on that. I was lucky since I could move my mandatory old age savings to my fave Swiss bank, which is not quite that sum, but close enough. Payments, and all things bank are super easy, and not that expensive in fees. One has to sign a form that one is disclosing each and every cent to the respective authorities. I do not know whether one can open an account without visiting at least once. The laws against money laundering are strict in Switzerland these days. All information is available in English, and the customer service at least in my bank is outstanding.Rip wrote: Yeah, can anybody enlighten on this based on experience? I do hear of other countries' banks with considerably lower thresholds but do not have specific information. I'd shop around, though.

Interesting case:
22.7.2014 National Discrimination Tribunal prohibited ethnic discrimination in the provision of banking services
The Ombudsman for Minorities requested the National Discrimination Tribunal to examine whether A had been discriminated against in the provision of banking services and to impose a conditional fine on S-Bank Ltd, because it had not accepted A's Estonian passport as proof of identity.
