Having guests in Hoas apartment

Post by aic18 » Thu Jun 12, 2014 9:19 pm

Hello!

I am just wondering...if I rent out a room in a shared apartment (from the Hoas company) will I be able to have guests over? And I don't mean for weeks at a time but maybe for a couple of nights a month. Has anyone had any experience with this? Thank you :D

What does your rent contract say?
Things like this are normally no reason for action. But if there are some other problems (complains from your room mate for instance) Hoas can become very strict with the contract.

If it's only for the night, just bring them over. If it's longer, be polite and tell your flatmate(s) in advance.

If they make an official complaint to HOAS instead of discussing things with you, deny everything and stop having people over. Then apply for a new apartment and hope you get a sane flatmate. Before you move out, pee in their shampoo.

My SO and I lived in different shared HOAS aparments for a while. It would've been absolutely absurd if neither of us could've stayed overnight at the other's apartment.

Thank you everyone and you are absolutely right! It'd be ridiculous to think you cannot have your partner over to visit, we are not 13 anymore :D
