Postponing studies

Hi!

I got in the UAS bachelor degree this year.
I can not decide whetether to postpone my studies or not. I should accept my studies till 29 of july or postpone.

So If I accept study place till july, but then I will not come to Finland in september. Will it be possible to postpone my studies in september or august because of health problems or without any reasons?

You need certain credits every year in order to get your permit renewed - permit for non-EU students. Otherwise, you can postpone all you want... i guess you have 4 years to complete the schooling but with that comes extra burden as you will have to squeeze all the courses into a tight schedule, attend classes as demanded by the teachers and class periods might get overlapped etc.

Or you postpone your study by a year. you start from next year, easier that way as you can go by the flow.

I contacted UAS, they said I have to decide till 29 july.

The duration of studies is 3,5 years
So, If it is possible to postpone my studies in august or september, and I will not apply for a residence permit this year, can I start my studies next year and will the duration of my studies be the same (3,5 years)?

Let's make one thing clear here. When you postpone now ie before 29 of July, UAS will give your study place to some other student who's in the waiting list and reserve study place for you for the next year. By August/September, it's too late for them to award study place to another student. It's reserved for you! If you don't attend classes, you will miss out on credits. In order to get your student permit renewed, you need to have completed certain credits (about 30 credits per year but i'm not sure).

I think you can. Courses can be completed over the period of 3,5 years (plus additional one year, i think) but in your case, it will be just 2,5 years plus additional one year. It will put burden on you like I said in my earlier post.

Discuss with your UAS thoroughly before you make your decision regarding this.
