(freelance) modelling in Finland

Post by dutchdoris » Wed Jul 09, 2014 5:09 pm

Hiya everyone!

I am a twentysomething from Holland, who freshly moved to Finland a week ago from China (lived there for almost 3 years), together with my Finnish boyfriend.

In China I used to study on my Dutch program, but quit (dropped out..) in order to pursue fluency in Mandarin and to become a model. I am now fluent in Mandarin, and have gained a decent amount of modelling experience; ranging from runway to print to promo, and extra-ing in movies/TV-commercials, and even hosting a bit on a homeshopping channel (live television, in Chinese)

Graduating is definitely on my to-do list, but for now I'd like to find out a bit more about how to continue working my former job. Modelling is a passion of mine. I am certainly not pursuing Vogue covers, just want to keep doing what I can do best here in my new territory.

I am currently based in Lappeenranta, though a pilgrimage to Helsinki is on the agenda for the end of this month. In China finding freelance bits of work is incredibly easy, and exists of 90% networking. Finland is not the same, and I realise that (Tracking down agencies is something I am already on top of :D). If anyone has more tips, suggestions, advice on where to get started, by all means: Chime In!
