Just nitpicking, but there’s no concept of VAT in the US. What they do have is sales tax, which is technically a bit different thing, albeit similar. If I have understood correctly, in online purchases, sales tax is collected only from customers who reside in a US state where the seller has presence. Additionally, not all states collect sales tax at all. But if there’s any doubt, better contact the seller and ask them directly about the tax, or your desire to purchase a product without them applying the sales tax on top.roger_roger wrote:If I buy from Amazon US, i.e. 1811 + 39 shipping cost = 1850 for me without VAT and Import Tax.
I want to ask how do I calculate VAT and Import Tax in such case.
My sample VAT Calculations would be:
Price 1811
Deduct US VAT = 13% of 1811 = 235
The import tax is generally 0% for computer equipment so you would only pay the VAT as an additional expense. However, the VAT is collected from the final (tax-free) sale price, including the shipping and handling fees, so add those into your calculations.roger_roger wrote:Actual Price = 1811 - 235 = 1576
Add Finnish VAT = 24% of 1576 = 378
Total Amount with VAT = 1576 + 378 = 1954
Without Import Tax the amount as per my calculations = 1954 €
Now, how shall I calculate the import tax? or something wrong with my calculations and buying via Amazon UK would be cheaper for me?
