Hi,
As the temperature is getting unbearable, I am looking for an AC to keep my apartment cool. Can someone please suggest where to look for such appliances in Espoo/Helsinki region. Already visited ClassOhlson and Antilla but they said it's out of stock

the portable AC systems you see in the shops have the drawback that they have a duct you must stick out of a window to expel the hot exhaust air. while nice cool air comes out the front, the expelled exhaust air must be replaced with something and this will be warm air from outside drawn into the flat. So when it's warmer outside than inside the flat, then this kind of AC can suck in more warm air. Living in a flat you probably can't install the split AC type which are connected by coolant pipes, those are truly effective both in reducing the temperature but also in reducing the humidity and it can be much more pleasant inside with 25deg dry air than 25deg humid air.
You should also keep an eye on the temp inside and out: when it's 32deg outside and 27deg inside then it's time to close all the windows and turn down the house ventilation system since opening the windows just warms the house up.

A few tips on installation;
- keep the hot air outlet tube as short as short as possible
- insulate the hot air outlet tube properly or it'll act like a radiator
- try to minimize the space you want to cool, close all doors etc
Indeed, close curtains and limit sunlight as much as possible. Don't use the oven, the toaster etc. The microwave oven is probably the most energy-efficient anyway. Take cool/cold showers.
