Jam Session - anyone interested?

Post by Handsome » Mon Apr 19, 2004 3:22 pm

Recently, there have been several people mention that they'd like to get together for a Jam session. I've also received a few PMs from people who are interested, but I'm not sure if they're still . members - jazzyjams (Jamie), jwesthues (Jukka - yes, I know you are), Dermot.

I know of several training rooms where we can get together (all in north west Helsinki). They all have a drum kit, guitar amps and bass amps, plus a PA for anyone who wants to sing.

Anything goes, so it doesn't really matter what you play/sing/clap along to... Myself, my primary focus is Jazz drumming.

Please note that these aren't going to be regular things, just a chance to get together now and again. It's not likely to be able to happen until May, either.

Please leave a message below if you're interested.

Jamming

Post by Mattlill2000 » Thu Apr 29, 2004 10:42 pm

I'm interested and ready to go. I'll be out of town on the weeks of 20 and 21 and on and off for the summer. May I suggest that we get an agreeable date together and pick lets say 1-3 songs that we can practice at home so were not completely out to lunch.
I have a few electrics and an acoustic, mikes and recording studio equipment. I've made some original homemade cds, compose, sing somewhat and play lead and rythm guitar.
It would be great to do some live stuff again.

I was thinking some time towards the end of may, and also mid week.

I agree with your idea about having a couple of songs prepared. Then we can also see what happens after that...

How is week 22 for everyone?

don't care that much about the songs either, but we should try to get a variety. don't necessarily want to play 5 Rolling Stones songs...

Jam

Post by Mattlill2000 » Sun May 02, 2004 10:08 pm

Week 22 is pretty good for me. Set a date and I'll get it worked out.
As for the music to be played, I'm sure in this case variety will be the spice of life. I suppose for the playing list we should stick to popular songs first so everyone knows them. For my choice, a blues song would be easy for everybody. How about Boot Hill recorded by Johnny Winter and Stevie Ray Vaughn or/and I'm A Man recorded by Muddy Waters.

How about Monday 24th? Probably from around 16.00 - 20.00.

Meeting

Sounds fine to me. All I need is a address. I was thinking about blues, we don't necasarily have to do songs, maybe just jam eg. 12 bar blues.
Is anyone into Neil Young? Easy stuff but neat. Possibly Helpless or Rockin in the Free World?
Take care, Matti
