No and no (does it sound too good to be true, then it probably isn't true). There are student housing that is cheaper than renting on the free market, but not free accommodation. Also, if your reason for RP is to study you won't get any student benefits. You also need enough money in your bank account to show that you can support yourself. There is no tuition, though.

It's possible to start some programs in January as they for example fill places that people did not accept in the summer. You can read on the student benefits here (like CH said it's not as rosy as you were told):

If you are unemployed in the UK, you can have your payments continue in Finland for three months:

Why do you expect to get Finnish tax money without ever having paid taxes in Finland?

You have work in your field in the UK, so you of course have savings. Use that money.

Most Finnish employers and customers in your field of course expect a relevant university degree.

Chances of getting work in your field are of course nearly zero until you are speaking the local language fluently.

Yeah, you won't get any student support unless you've come for a reason other than studying. You could try continuing your freelance work for British companies (or whoever you do it for) over in Finland, to make sure you like it enough to live here long-term? Off course his posts are provocative but he is right in pointing out that Finland is not a fairytale candy land for foreigners.

Please tell me this is a trolling question. I refuse to believe that there's somebody on that level of ignorance while being able to use Google.

In case this is a genuine question:

- No you won't get free accommodations.
- No you can't get welfare money. I don't want my tax money to go to a self-entitled can't-use-Google type of guy who hasn't contributed anything yet. (It's happening already. Hopefully it won't get exponentially worse)
- Do more research and find out the application dates and read the pages on StudyInFinland.fi as they have a lot of information.
Every case is unique. You can't measure the result of your application based on arbitrary anecdotes online.

Nobody's asking for charity or a hand out
That's not what you implied in your first post.
if I came over as a student, I'd be given free accommodation as well as the funding to live and study
Can I ask for the social security of Finland
.
Jesus, you people are so warm and hospitable.
That's what you can expect if you as a foreigner suggest you want to live of Finns taxpayers money.
Finns are not nice to foreigners.

I'm not a Finn, and I'm not nice to that kind of foreigners. I earned my life here with blood, sweat, and tears.
When somebody says they want to be here to get a free piece of the cake, then I won't be nice to them. Even if that person is my own family.

is there an exclusive website for Finland someone could point out to me so that I can get in touch with them, in order to share the rent?
Slacker, just rent a room off another random foreigner https://www.finlandforum.org/viewforum.php?f=21

It's pretty unlikely you would find a flat to rent if you have no regular source of income. There is a chronic shortage of small cheap lets so the landlords can cherrypick their tenants.

A share is probably your best bet.
