Hi,
I have been reading this forum for a while, however I could not find an answer to my specific case (Or I must have missed it), so I would be grateful for any help.
I have been married to a Finnish National for 4+ years, and we have one son together.
We are living outside of EU, (I am a non-EU citizen) and honestly never had the intention of moving to Finland, every year I apply for a visit visa and we go for our holidays, visit my wife's family.
Now, seeing that my wife is non resident citizen and so is my son, do I qualify for a RP should I apply based on family ties? I have recently started up my own consultancy firm and I do not need to be physically located anywhere in specific so we thought about trying out life in Finland.
Thing is, the move may not materialize, whats the situation here?
Would I be better of staying with the visit visas until we move there for sure?
Many thanks ,I hope I could get my point across.

You can't get RP on family ties until someone of your family is living here.

Visa is for visiting, Residence Permit for residing.

True but section 49 of the Aliens Act [1] allows for the OP to apply for the RP in Finland. However, I don't know if it's possible to get a visa for the purpose of coming to Finland in order to apply for RP.Upphew wrote: http://www.migri.fi
