Is Danske Bank expensive or am I missing something?

Post by one » Tue Aug 19, 2014 11:18 pm

They told me the basic current account maintenance cost would be ~6.5€ + internet bank ~4.5€ + debit card ~1.5€, so with these basic services the total cost would be around ~13€ per month which seems to be expensive to me. Do the other banks (Nordea, for example) have similar charges or this is just an expensive bank in general?

That sounds expensive. Most banks have some kind of fees but they are waived when you are a "good" customer (for example have a mortgage). If you need services in English, your options will be limited. Nordea for example charges 3 euros for online banking but I don't think they charge anything for the account itself.

Are you sure those are the correct prices? 13 Eur/m is a robbery even by Banks' standards
Regular service is half of that, and includes Credit Card, internet banking and Debit Card.
And if you can handle your business in Finnish S-Pankki should be more economic.

Yes, I'm sure I heard correct. They recommended to join 'Danske Benefit Programme' which has different levels. The very basic would require the deposit of 10,000€ in the account and then it would cost ~7/month.

Presumably you were told this by Danske employee, but I don't understand. I think it says here pretty clearly that if you are not a more highly valued customer nor eligible for student or youth packages, you'd still get account with codes and debit card for 6.4€/month.

(not cheap, but less than what has been stated in this thread)

5€/month for Nordea.

2 for Visa Electron (charging for this is most stupid thing ever....)
3 for Internet Access (charging for this is even more stupid than other, I help the bank save money by not using branch services)
5 € not worth my time for complaining.

Yours is outrageous.

You save money for the bank so internet access is cheaper. Paying an invoice at a branch is 5 euros per invoice.

Aktia
0 EUR for Visa Electron
0 EUR for Internet Banking (which I got 4 weeks after opening the account)

I love Aktia.
Every case is unique. You can't measure the result of your application based on arbitrary anecdotes online.

One of my friend was holding a Danske Bank account and if I remember her words correctly, she paid around 6 EUR as a maintenance fee. She had internet banking and visa electron card.
She is over 27 years old and opened an account in Helsinki branch opposite center railway station.
