Consumer Rights & Problem

Hello Guys,

I have a small problem. I hope there won't be problem since I will give brand name and thename of shop.

I bought a notebook from verkkokauppa around 6 weeks ago. The brand is Asus. There was(is) a chance to make your product with 3 years warranty. It works like that; 2 years official Asus warranty and + 1 year from verkkokauppa and the issues are handled at their technical service.

However, the notebook which I bought was sold to me that it has official 36 months Asus warranty(international). At their website and on my receipt it is written that 36 months. I asked them more than twice before buying and they said me that you dont need to get +1 year warranty since the product has already 3 year official warranty.

After buying, I contacted with Asus Nordic and Asus my home country and they both said that my product has 2 years warranty. Then I contacted with verkkokauppa and told about their mistake and claim my 3rd year warranty. It can be bought from Asus website and warranty can be officially extended. Verkkokauppa wrote me back that the product has 2 years warranty and they give me third year at verkkokauppa technical service. Then they quickly corrected their website on that product and make TAKKU 24kk. It was 36kk when I bought.

I want Asus international warranty 36 months as the product was sold to me like that so what should I do on that, what rights I have in Finland? How can I claim my right?

They promised 3 year warranty and you have it in writing. I dont see a problem unless they dont honour their promise.
In finland its irrelevant who gives warranty, seller has responsibility. You as customer dont have or need to contact asus, seller is one you contact.

How come it is not important? If I move back to my home country, then I would need Asus International (or European) warranty which was promised me when the product was sold. If something happens after 2 years and if I wont be in Finland, then no way to use 3rd year warranty.

Seller promised you a warranty, asus never promised you anything, they promise something to seller but not to you.
Your moving is your problem.

Seller promised you a warranty, asus never promised you anything, they promise something to seller but not to you.
Your moving is your problem.
Seller promised me ASUS INTERNATIONAL warranty while the item is being sold. Then they change the info on the product at website after they realize the mistake by my message.

The only difference is that you'd have to ship a broken computer back to the shop if it breaks at age 2,5 instead of to an Asus repairer anywhere in the world. But we don't even know if Asus have local repairers all over the world anyway. For some worldwide warranties you still have to send your product abroad to get repair. For some of them you think you're taking it local and they turn around and ship it for repair themselves. I know. I worked for several major camera brands and customers had no clue that the repair jobs were being sent across the world.

You could try politely telling Verkkokauppa that you are unhappy with the shortfall and ask them to promise to cover the postage costs in the event that something happens in the third year. That is the ONLY difference here between the two warranties, that is, where you must send it for repair.
Yes, it is verkkokauppa's problem and finally today they realised their mistake and they accepted me to pay Asus 1 year warranty extension cost.

Verkkokauppa has realized that they wrongly wrote 3 years international warranty about that product. By e-mailing I couldnt solve the problem so I visited them today and technical service solved it quickly and they offer me to extend official warranty extension from Asus website.

Long story short, everything is solved. At my home country Asus has a technical service so from now on I may use it if it will be necessary. Hope it won't be.

My point may seem strange here, but still: do not you think that you will not need your outdated aSUS in 2 years time? So warranty question is pointless really :)

It is very high end laptop so I give 4 years life time)
