Can I eat in local bus?

Post by somequest » Sat Sep 06, 2014 3:37 pm

Driver told me that it is illegal to eat (such as a banana) in bus. Is it so, or just a racist speech?

Just racist speech, it is always when it does not suite you. Next time just take your fridge with you.

No, it's not allowed, for reasons both good and obvious (staining the seats or other passengers, trash left behind by human trash, etc).

No, no, you've got all wrong. Racist would be if he told you to eat a banana

Well, actually it is not always strictly enforced - mostly when you already enter the bus eating your food or displaying it very ostentatiously, they often would point to the rules. But should you discreetly and tidily have a small bite in the back of the bus it's most likely to go without mention. I'm not sure, but I think that also drinking even non-alcoholic beverages is officially forbidden but in that case rarely enforced.

Kinda like driving 200km/h during night when cops don't see you.

Is the banana yellow or brown?

I thought it was when he throws a banana at you, but is that only if you have football gear on?

Well, it is not "illegal" as such, but "against the rules", it all depends but I remember a few times being bemused the dricer was objecting to some snack when there was a bunch of hollering winos in the back and a vodka bottle rolling in the back... I remeber the coaches/ buses with plush seats were ones more keen on the ban than the city shiney seet ones. But now when they privatised and got connex and veolia they got more stricter rules I think... If you can read them in Danish or Hungarian...

Sure it was racism, apes should be able to eat banana always!

And seriously. You arent allowed to eat in bus regardless of your face.
In "long way" bus you may be allowed to eat if you arent ape and !"#¤% around but thats not guaranteed.

Dont be ape.

Now, I miss the trams in Dublin. You could just eat and drink whatever you liked and just drop the trash in the bus. Every seat decorated with a variety of trash let alone the floor. You get best of both of worlds as you can consume your favorite food or beverage in an artistic environment, and certainly you wouldn't accuse them of racism.

I'm more impressed of how they squeeze the LUAS over the Liffey and join the red and green lines.
