Dental insurance
Dental insurance
Had my teeth checked recently and they were fine, but after reading about all the costs of having dental work done I wonder if its worth getting some dental insurance. Is there such a thing here? I heard its not necessary for kids as its free for them. Is this really the case?
Re: Dental insurance
Private insurances may cover accident like events (you fall down on stairs, break a tooth). I am not aware of any covering against "normal wear and bad dental hygiene" kind of things (some travel insurances to a very limited extent, possibly).
If they would exist the insurance companies aren't charities of course, so on average you'd pay it them on full.if its worth getting some dental insurance

Re: Dental insurance
You get "free" as in municipal these days at any age. However the kids & pensioners are still on the priority list. You get a toothache now and its next May for the appointment... In Helsinki its easier/cheaper to go for Tallinn or Pärnu for anything advanced. Then again the Estonians complain its too expensive and go to Belarus or Ukraine, Ukranians to Turkey...

Maybe things have changed but when my kids were at school the checkups were arranged by the school and took place near the school (the kids walked there during the schoolday). I never did anything.Cory wrote:
There must be a priority ++ system in place for really young kids because his check-ups were never this hard to arrange when he was a pre-schooler.
In Espoo things have improved, it is reasonably easy to get emergency appointments with a public dentist. Going private is like playing roulette. The worst dentist I have ever seen in my whole life was a private one in Finland and I have a gap in my mouth to prove it
