Tattoo artist from US trying to stay in Finland
Tattoo artist from US trying to stay in Finland
What would be my best options?
what RD would I need?
I have 5 weeks left til my 90 days runs out.
Can someone from the US apply for asylum?

Of course he can apply - he'll probably be on the next plane to Cuba in no time

I'm curious. Give us some examples of the reasons you would consider giving to explain why you need asylum.
I mean it. I'd really like to hear your ideas on the subject. You must have had at least one thing in mind.

As he persisted, I was obliged to tootle him gently at first and then, seeing no improvement, to trumpet him vigorously with my horn.

Perhaps the OP was thinking of the other definition of asylum:
a hospital where people who are mentally ill are cared for especially for long periods of time : a mental hospital

Well, a German family got asylum in the US because they wanted to homeschool their children which is apparently illegal in Germany, so there might possibly be some reason as to why an American could get asylum in Europe.......
Re: Tattoo artist from US trying to stay in Finland
We have seen those here on this board and they are rather too numerous in practice. Unfortunately for OP (not too though sure he'd enjoy the stay here under those conditions though) the US government would not put up obstacles if he'd need to be given a police escort on a flight back to States, so it would not quite work. With some other countries yes, but not with USA.tummansininen wrote:Or it could fit the popular idea of what asylum is, which is that people claim it when they just feel like living in a different country for a while and don't particularly feel like going home right now. It has nothing to do with actually needing to be sheltered or their life being in danger or anything.
That's what asylum's about, amiright?

We havent had that many recently though. Back in the day there was a "surge" of dissillusioned families (who read too much crap on Washington Post)

And why exactly would they need asylum for that??? But one could most probably get an asylum application accepted if one is on death row in the US. That plan does have some minor technical issues, though, so I don't recommend it.biscayne wrote:Well, a German family got asylum in the US because they wanted to homeschool their children which is apparently illegal in Germany, so there might possibly be some reason as to why an American could get asylum in Europe.......
