Where to take salmonella test ?

Hi,

I want to take a salmonella test but I have no idea where is the ideal place to take it, normal place like Mehilainen is too expensive cause I don't have Kela card. Can you give me some advises ?

Call your health center and explain your case and why you think you need the test. A nurse will see you and will refer you to a doctor. If the doctor thinks you should get the test, you'll get it cheaply.

Without KELA us it really cheaper than Mehiläinen?

It's a public health issue. If you got salmonella then others got it and the public health people will want to find the source and clean it up or shut it down.

Absolutely.
I only knew I was eligible for a KELA card a few months ago. Before that, I went on for 3 years between Mehiläinen and Kela-less public health.

For example, a while ago, I took a hormone panel blood test (5 values/readings) at Mehiläinen and I paid 340 EUR. I took the same test a couple of months later at the public keskussairaala, and I paid around 210 EUR.

So your workplace requires the test? If yes, then I highly doubt that you'll have to pay the costs yourself.

Packaging food, they don't actually ask for my salmonella test but I'll have better chance if I have it

Now this is getting even more unusual. May I ask from which part of the world do you come?

I'm not an employer, nor do I have any experience in the food packaging business, but I have a slight amount of common sense. If I'm not asking or requiring a malaria test, I'm gonna think it's damn suspicious (or, at best, weird) that you'd walk into my office telling me "I don't have malaria and here's a test to prove it".

And if you work in a restaurant for food production facility and you have to take sick leave(if I remember correctly from my hygiene pass it's more than 5 days), they require you submit a test when you go back to work. Maybe also if you have taken a holiday abroad.
