Job Seeker with Bachelor of Psychology
Job Seeker with Bachelor of Psychology
Hi there,
I will have completed my bachelor degree by next year. Until then I am a customer service agent for a game company. the job is mobile and allows me to work from where ever so that will be my means of I come in the meantime once I move. I will be applying for a residency permit with a dear man of mine and signing to his lease so I'll be there all during the app processing period also. My education is also accessed online. Anyway, with a bachelor degree my likelihood of finding work is decent yes? I'm aware I am entering a society with some highly educated individuals and it's not uncommon for a masters degree to be the norm. After my bachelors has been completed I'm thinking of either specializing in the realm of counciling or human resources and continuing to a masters. In addition, I also have an up to date cosmetology license - it is from California so getting re certified to use that in Finland would be a nice back up plan. On top of this, I am also talking Finnish lessons....in addition, I will be reciding in the Tampere area so I was just curious about primary industries in that region ... If there are any good job searching sites that would be nice to have, also...or if anyone knows of any openings...I'm aware I won't be able to get anything until I'm granted a living permit so I have some time, to get an idea of things...

Well, firstly, for any medical certification you need to look at http://www.valvira.fi/en/licensing/prof ... ice_rights
But a psycopatlogist would probably require a master level. And adding spackle isn't on the list, so you can keep the cosmography license in a frame on the wall. The main question in finding any work is can you interact with your clientele? Both of those professions seem to require a high level of language skills...
To be honest, if I saw some humanist bachelors degree from an online university, I'd take the applicant with a master swimmer papers
As for Tampere, put it in for "Alue" and have a ball

I still can't grasp how people overlook this. Just can't understand. Maybe I should go back to army to see real people.tummansininen wrote:Finns prefer to speak Finnish.

There's a Gamelab at Tampere Uni, have you considered that path? You've got both knowledge of Psychology and experience with game companies.
Not sure about jobs as Rovio just announce that they'll be letting go 130 people.

Finns will sellout their common language values for the language of money, but not all sectors can provide a relief to the language barrier and offer the "employer" a preview of you as a money language phenom.

For the business viewers
There are 2 main jobs and a crossover platform
1.jobs that act for themselves.(people/professions that act for themselves)
2.Jobs that are acted upon.(people/professions that are acted upon)
Then you have a crossover platform called entrepreneurship.
A psych professional is acted upon. Its a secondary reaction.
Whats winning here is the (act for themselves group).
But when you operate as a crossover professional it becomes extremely difficult to understand whats to much in terms of Info, honesty,in your face, too laid back etc.
That type understanding may take you a while to grasp here.
Ive seen pros that got the Finnish cold shoulder but when located in another country they excelled at the personal business models with real profits.

Re: Job Seeker with Bachelor of Psychology
I'm not sure of your country of origin, but in Europe, generally speaking, a bachelors in psychology doesn't really qualify you for anything. To be a school pychologist you'd need in masters in developmental psychology and be registered, to work in business (HR for example), you'd need the psych degree plus some business degree or a masters in HR itself, to be a registered pyschotherapist , you need a masters and preferably a phd. Often people do a bachelors in psych along with something else.
In order to work as a psychologist your Finnish would need to be outstanding, as talking and communicating is part and parcel of the job.
