Hi
4 years ago I have once (just once) been caught by police in the area speed limit was 80 km/h, The police kept my driving licence for 1 month and i got fine for 115 or 120 euroa. About four years ago so i don't remember exactly the amount of fine. I tried to find fine paper but i don't know where i put it. I was not thinking much about it anymore after paying fine. But now i am filling citizenship form there is a part asking about it.
Can anyone help me how to fill this part of citizenship form in my situtation?
Now I would like to apply for the Finnish citizenship, will this be a problem for me? Can anyone help?
Thank you for your help!

Tiedän, että syyllistyminen ennen päätöksen tekoa muuhun kuin rikesakolla rangaistavaan tekoon tai lähestymiskieltoon määrääminen voi vaikuttaa hakemuksen ratkaisuun.

Speeding fines affect citizenship application?
Re: Speeding fines affect citizenship application?
The amount you mentioned (you did not say how fast you were driving) makes it sound it was only "rikesakko", which would be irrelevant here.Olen syyllistynyt muuhun kuin rikesakolla rangaistavaan tekoon Suomessa
Ei Kyllä
The other kind of fine ("päiväsakko", the fine with "daily" amount based on your income), would also by now be old and forgiven. I think also (I haven't collected any so far, so I might be wrong) that the "päiväsakko" would have been ordered by a court (not just policy) and you seem to have no such recollection either.
(Aliens act - well, you should be able to read Finnish now)Edellä 1 momentissa tarkoitettu odotusaika on:
1) sakkorangaistuksen osalta vähintään vuosi ja enintään kolme vuotta luettuna rikoksen tekopäivästä;

But is it possible that "rikesakko" is given for an offense that requires taking the license away?Rip wrote:The amount you mentioned (you did not say how fast you were driving) makes it sound it was only "rikesakko", which would be irrelevant here.Olen syyllistynyt muuhun kuin rikesakolla rangaistavaan tekoon Suomessa

Re: Speeding fines affect citizenship application?
It was happened about 4 years ago so i don't still remember exactly speeding limit but i think it is 20 km/h or a bit more. They were not sending me to court. I got invitation letter from police after one week. I went there and met police men he was telling me about what happened before then he check on the law book and give a fine paper to me. After one month i received back my lience. I would like to know exactly what kind of offence i was committed? Because i lose fine paper so i could not know more about it. It was happened 4 years ago. Is it still affect on my citizenship application? What about sakkorangaistus ja odotusaika? If it is still affected on my citizenship application it means that i will never get Finnish citizenship is it right?

Re: Speeding fines affect citizenship application?
Presumably it should be possible for you to visit a police station and explain your situation and ask them to clarify it (so you fill the papers accurately).
The waiting time with a fine is anyway at maximum three years, which should have passed by now. Based on the amount you mention the actual waiting time you had would have probably been at most a year.

Re: Speeding fines affect citizenship application?
If i were committed päiväsakko and paid fine 120 € and my driving lience was taken away for one month. I check waiting time (odotusaika) for 30 -59 days fine. it is one year for waiting time. My case was happened 4 years ago. Is it still affected on this following requirement?
General Requirements for Naturalisation
A person may be naturalised if he/she meets the
following requirements:
has not committed any punishable act other than
one subject to a petty fine or been placed under a
restraining order (integrity requirement).
Kansalaistamisen yleiset edellytykset
Kansalaistaminen edellyttää, että hakija täyttää seuraa
-
vat vaatimukse
Hän ei ole syyllistynyt muulla kuin rikesakolla
rangaistuun tekoon eikä häntä ole määrätty
lähestymiskieltoon (nuhteettomuusedellytys)

Unlikely gonna be a problem but certainly no one here is in position to help.David2014 wrote:

That said a relatively mundane traffic code, as opposed to a criminal code, violation four years ago, though you were pushing your luck if they suspended your license. I would think it highly unlikely it makes one iota of difference and am not sure it even shows on your rap sheet anymore. Quite frankly, failing to tell about it could very well amount to more significant offense than the one earning the speeding ticket in the first place.
