Public Hospital Expense.
Public Hospital Expense.
Hi,
I have been living in Finland last 25-Nov-13 and had a permit till 15-Nov-14 and I have applied for the Extension of residence permit till 16-Nov-2015.
We had baby a pre-mature baby at HYKS Latenklinikka hospital (6 Months of pregnancy) and baby is still in hospital from last 3 months.
When we asked for estimated cost they told us it will cost around 230 thousand euros for the baby and it is still in hospital.
We do have insurance but don't know how much insurance company is going to pay but still i wonder what will happen if we have to pay such huge amount and we cannot pay it.
I have kela card but my wife doesn't does't have.
Please let me know if this how the hospital bills comes for the foreigners in Helsinki., can we get any benefit s as far i know Finnish citizen have to pay a minimum or fixed amount.

Re: Public Hospital Expense.
Sorry for your troubles but:
A) Did you try if you can have the baby KELA covered? (I really do not know the rules how the coverage is "inherited")
B) Have you not been in contact with your insurance company, or why do you not know what they'll cover?

Not paying is not a criminal offense so there's no danger of jail time. It does however mean that enforcement will be taking the money out of anything you make until the debt has been paid or it has expired.roger_roger wrote:Nothing, if you cannot pay then cannot pay, what's the big deal in it.... last resort for them is to put you in jail for few years.... I'd prefer to go Jail in Finland for few years and enjoy there instead of paying astronomical amount that I cannot really save during my lifetime.neer wrote:i wonder what will happen if we have to pay such huge amount and we cannot pay it.

15 years in collection. If one does not put a debt to collection (but hospital debts would be) it's possible to keep a debt alive as long as one keeps reminding about it.mahwish wrote: When or after how long and on what conditions a debt is expired or not enforceable? Can someone please also post a link how to check my credit file in Finland.

Finland , the place where statistical fairy tales ......................blah,blah,lets have another meeting, owww btw, find everything out online through a stranger. When we asked for estimated cost they told us it will cost around 230 thousand euros
This country is half assed in so many ways.
Re: Public Hospital Expense.
Although i am sympathetic to you predicament , i find myself wanting to spew out the sheer pathetic abundance that is knowledge "according to finland".I have been living in Finland last 25-Nov-13 and had a permit till 15-Nov-14 and I have applied for the Extension of residence permit till 16-Nov-2015.
EVen a computer game has a better integration for new comers.
So obviously you are covered for stuff because you pay contributions through work, but what exactly are you covered for?
And when they allowed your wife to enter Finnish territories under your sponsorship , what exactly is she covered by.
Its a poor computer game manufactured by @#$% crooks
I remember the first time i came here, because the whole country is a spore festival i got some type of cough and the green living slime did appear from my nose
I went to the hospital and asked for some bug killer medicine, simply a small course of bug killers and im on my way.
NOPE, this retard decided that bug killer meds was not so good for the human condition and rejected my claims that i know my body and this green stuff needs a little extra kick in the pants using drugs
NOPE, i needed to naturally heal over a period of weeks, which he gladly offered me a "get out of work free card" for 1 week and i could return and if the condition was still present he would diagnose.
BUt before i could get off my seat he in his kind heart suggested i have a X ray so he could sleep at night knowing that the little bugs in my lungs wernt growing into a bigger problem. Such a shame the xray radiation doesnt kill those bugs.
What a nice man, 3 weeks later they charged me 180 euro for the xray .
I can pretty much put money on this and bet that your bill is being "rolled on " like a shopping list. Lest do some other useless test but the data allows us to sleep at night and maybe someone else in the future can use the data without it costing the next poor misinformed bastard.

Well, if you did not have a bacteria infection, as you described, antibiotics would have only given you diarrhea.cors187 wrote: I remember the first time i came here, because the whole country is a spore festival i got some type of cough and the green living slime did appear from my nose

But medical drugs do help , thats the point , something can kill the green bug stuff fast without laboring a slow recovery and having a week from work.sotka_ wrote:Well, if you did not have a bacteria infection, as you described, antibiotics would have only given you diarrhea.cors187 wrote: I remember the first time i came here, because the whole country is a spore festival i got some type of cough and the green living slime did appear from my nose

Re: Public Hospital Expense.
I wrote a long post about how there actually aren't any great drugs to treat generic virus infections (which I assume from your doctor's treatment decisions is what you had), and about how stupid people are to ask for antibiotics to treat things that don't die from antibiotics are. And about how great the Russian medical system is at evolving antibiotic-resistant bugs such as tuberculosis, !"#¤% that will come and kill us all in a few decades. But medical drugs do help , thats the point , something can kill the green bug stuff fast without laboring a slow recovery and having a week from work.

But then I decided you won't care about rational things like that and deleted the post. Have a nice day.

I dont classify my needs as "antibiotic", a ventolin inhaler can turn the tide on that type of stuff, infact there are many things, im sure.interleukin wrote:I wrote a long post about how there actually aren't any great drugs to treat generic virus infections (which I assume from your doctor's treatment decisions is what you had), and about how stupid people are to ask for antibiotics to treat things that don't die from antibiotics are. The point is the doctor took the high position and then inflicted me with xrays.
The point about the system in russia is that i can help diagnose myself and my needs according to my own body and that some doctors are crap there but some are awesome and i can find the awesome ones from the !"#¤% ones due to the system there. Thats my point. High horse doctors a plenty here.Thats whats got us in the !"#¤% in the first place . Not allowing a patient to feel his way through the best solution.
Again i say something was needed to change the long slow 10-14 day process right then and there. But only xray radiation was on offer and some antihistamine from the chemist.
Mystic professionalism is the problem and Finn doctors have a monopoly on so called knowledge . And ofcourse theres the costs for nothing but some extra xray radiation.
Most people dont ask for what doesnt work, they ask for what works. Antibiotics is irrelevant to me.
Re: Public Hospital Expense.
Im really pissed off with this thread as im in the same boat as the OP. YEP i came from the greatest land(ok we stole it) , and now im a boat people which i am enjoying except when i come across things like this.
When i moved to russia i was fully protected as an immigrant, not that the Russians think they are good at intelligence, they just go forward.
But Finland , heck they think they are good, even think they are the best and sure enough people dont know !"#¤% about their coverage or rights etc.
If finland was russia i would not feel so bad about not knowing the rights of my family considering they were allowed to come into Finland Legitimately.
Do yourself a favor you finnish pretenders, get of your high horse, your a stiff necked people.

Re: Public Hospital Expense.
It does not look like the OP would have done his utmost (as he should have) finding out. The situation is at least three months old and he says he does not know what is the insurance company coverage. He hasn't posted here since the thread start over two weeks ago so it is impossible to say if he has even tried if he could have got a coverage for the child in the national system.cors187 wrote: and sure enough people dont know !"#¤% about their coverage or rights etc.

"Salbutamol is typically used to treat bronchospasm (due to any cause, allergen asthma or exercise-induced), as well as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.[12] Emergency medical practice commonly treats people presenting with asthma who report taking their salbutamol inhaler as prescribed with salbutamol. In general, people tolerate large doses well.cors187 wrote:I dont classify my needs as "antibiotic", a ventolin inhaler can turn the tide on that type of stuff, infact there are many things, im sure.
Other uses include in cystic fibrosis, along with ipratropium bromide, acetylcysteine, and pulmozyme and subtypes of congenital myasthenic syndromes associated to mutations in Dok-7."
