Hello all, been awhile since posted here.
Question that maybe some would know about. I cant find answer.
How is it normally taken care of if an employee doesnt show for work for days promised/scheduled yet still got paid for them. Case as happened was as such:
Due to payday last day of month, and then add to that a holiday friday, the actual salary was paid Thursday. Employee who was day by day with no contract was asked wednesday before getting hours to the accountant if he would be available until the end of the weekend with the reply of yes. So long story short, in order to have salaries paid by the last bank day of the month (thursday) the assumed hours were needed by 15 on wednesday. Person in question got "sick" in afternoon of wednesday went home. Via text apologised and promised to come following days, which never did.
Person was given many opportunities to make up the hours later but never did. Person also never got a doctors note saying was sick.
Question is, does the employer have a legal ability to re-collect the salary paid for work not done?
Thanks all for any info.

Re: Payback of work salary
Employers union would be a good place to ask about the exact situation. I do know that in general salaries paid erroneously can be collected back. If the employee refuses to pay, then you would have to go through the district court. For salaries of one day, it might not be worth the effort (though the fees would be paid by the employee if you win).jessesuomi wrote: Person was given many opportunities to make up the hours later but never did.
