IT is a bit better paid than Finland.
The point system is a good thing. Though psychological profiling would be even better. A worst thing would be an immigrant in your backyard with no understanding/consideration of local values which are here since ice age?
I wouldn't mind living in North West Territories if they got 100Mbit connection and work in my field. Might even marry a local and write "how to marry an Inuit chick"

Grash? :)

If you are already settled here, you might want to consider some additional feedback, from a Finnish friend of ours that moved there.

- credit history: they had a good credit history here, but the bank would not even give them a credit card, so it was paying with cash all the while. A few months later, they switched banks, and then got something like a debit card, i.e. a credit card, with a security deposit, and the limit was the security deposit. Had to buy a run-down car at a very low price.

- mortgage: are impossible to get for a few years, despite the fact that they had about 65% cash down.

- schooling: public / government funded schools seemingly not up-to-standard, private schools expensive.

- sometime about a tie-up between the medical clinics and the pharmacy, I did not understand it, but seemed to suggest that you have to go to the pharmacy suggested by the clinic, not sure.

Cheers.

There used to be this wonderful(?) website notcanada.com that was run by some disgruntled Indian(?) immigrants to Canada. The whine was the same expats were complaining about Finland; racism, xenophobia, language included. Canadians only hire Canadians/ you need a Canadian degree/ you need Canadian work experience.... Blaaa blaa blaa xenophobia racism French... The only deduction that could be made from that is that immigrants in any country are stupid, very few have a realistic approach.

Me? Too old, can't be arsed paying, and can't be arsed paying for my degrees to get translated. Same as with Anustralia. Too old. Now that I actually would have the money required. When I was younger I didn't have the money to waste - and if I had that kind of money why would I have left? USA was too difficult, I might get a shot in a few years, but I don't know if its worth it any more. Except being able to go to the menswear section and find yourself in the "little boys" section. We'll see, maybe I'll be recycled to the head office in India.
