Questions regarding TE office?

Post by ram316 » Fri Nov 28, 2014 10:37 am

Hi,

I am a non-EU possessing Finland resident permit on basis of family ties.
I worked for 4 years in IT industry in my home country and now joined my husband who is working in Helsinki.
Currently I am looking for jobs and heard from friends that I can register at TE office, though it will not help much.
But I am trying to attend some technical courses which requires registration at TE.

Now question is what are all the documents required to register at TE?
What are prons and cons of registering at TE?

Thanks in advance.

Sorry for stupidity.

I got this link now which explains me the first question.
http://www.te-palvelut.fi/te/en/jobseek ... index.html

I cannot use online service so I will visit TE office personally to register.

If someone can shed lights on how useful registering at TE and also will it backfire in any ways?

Backfire in what way? Without registering there as a job seeker, you cannot get unemployment benefits. In addition to that, you should also avail yourself of useful courses/trainings etc arranged by TE office. Go there already.

Online services require a verified bank account. For that, visit your bank with your passport.

Ok... here's how useful their services can be to you, from the website you linked.

Work try-out as a stepping stone to the job market
Get a Duuni card and find a job

How to book an appointment at TE Kamppi office - http://toimistot.te-palvelut.fi/hki-keskusta-kamppi
Google translation says Kamppi office is served only with appointment. Is that right? If so, how to get an appointment, phone or online?

Yes, easiest would to phone them in order to get an appointment. However, the Kluuvi office is walking distance from Kamppi and does not need an appointment if that's your cup of tee:

My experience after visiting TE offices:
1. Registration as a job seeker can be done only at Te offices Pasila and Ita-Kesku (I went to Kluvvi but they redirected me to either of these 2 offices)
2. No TE services will be applicable for B-type resident permit. Only A-type resident permit card holders are eligible for any services, even like job employment training and language courses.

These are all the things I came to know after visiting TE offices, anyone else faced the same scenario for point 2.
Can we apply for A type permit when we apply for RP extension?

IM guessing the husband is on B type and wife has arrived in first year, so she also gets B type.

Its a shame about allowing people to enter the country and reduce their job seeker initiative into a money grab smirk.
