Working on Sunday...double pay?
Hello there! I need some information. Sometimes I am required to work on Sunday too. Do you know if it is double paid? I have checked a couple of time on my pay roll and the amount of money per hour is the same of the other days...some of my colleaugues told me that it should be paid differently....Do you know how it works...?

It depends on the collective agreement in place in the sector in which you work, but as a general rule, work on Sundays gets double pay Ask your union (and if you don't belong to a union, then you should seriously consider joining one).

Well, this is a tricky one. According to the collective agreement according to which my contract is written, I get paid 50% increase (EUR/h) for "additional work" (work above 37.5h/week up until 40h/week). Anything above that, it's 50% for the first two hours and 100% increase (EUR/h) for any hour after that.
As for Sunday work, it's 150% increase for the first two hours and 200% increase for any hour after that. In my case, I've also negotiated a full vacation day for each 7.5h I work on Sunday or public holidays.
Why is it tricky? Because you might have a different collective agreement in your field. Your contract might even include special clauses that override certain parts of the collective agreement, or even have a separate working hours agreement.
So, in short: Check your contract and see what is the wages and working hours agreement. If it's a special one by your employer, check it. If it's a collective agreement, then Google it and read it. Every case is unique. You can't measure the result of your application based on arbitrary anecdotes online.

Yes, ask your supervisor. It is probably a mistake with the processing of the hours or the accounting department. Write down all the hours you've got not properly paid. Always check the pay slip for mistakes.laurajbj85 wrote:Hello guys!

Hi,
Having worked for SOL myself, on the ships, I know they pay double time on Sundays. As has been said, it's probably an oversight in accounting. So do check with your supervisor/manager. A lot of the staff are members of PAM, check with your PAM representative.

Thank you for all your replies! Basically, before asking for some info to my advisors, I spoke to my colleaugues who told me how to read the payroll...everything is fine as they pay me double for Sundays
It was my mistake as I was not able to read the payroll correctly! Anyway..thank you for all your replies!

I used to work for Sol & YES Sundays are double pay, it should show up with your normal hours & then another line with the Sunday payment, If it's not on there tell your supervisor, there salary office is not that great, they will correct it. And as I have told many people, check every single salary paper as they quite often make mistakes
