Well I recently lose my key to my house, which look like this.

Is this duplicatable? I know that I need to go to those suutari, but I have no idea if this one is under any active license or legal protection etc.
Thanks in advance.

Of course you can get a copy. From cobbler for over a year. Before that you had to get them straight from Abloy.

Hey, thank you so much for reply to the topic, but can you please be more specific about this one year period?

The patent went old a year ago.

did the patent on
this key expire last year? i'm not sure how easy it is to identify the key type from the picture.
Abloy still seem to have patents for some of their lock designs so some keys are still under patent protection. This is how Abloy can impose terms on those who are allowed to duplicate them (such as demanding you show ID or register yourself as an owner). They do this by only giving the rights to duplicate the keys and only supplying blank keys to those who agree to enforce those terms or might not allow anybody but themselves to create the duplicates. It would be up to them to decide on the duplication method if there is still a patent on that lock type.

But it's not as if every key type can be copied by anybody now, on the assumption that patents no longer apply to any locks or keys.

Round blue tab off center in key (missing in the picture) = exec = patent expired.

Thank you very much for all of your answer.
I found my key back, which was nice, but I'll go to the nearest suutari to make me another one, just in case.

Where was it?
As he persisted, I was obliged to tootle him gently at first and then, seeing no improvement, to trumpet him vigorously with my horn.

In the middle of my sofa. Pretty lucky I found it.
Got it duplicated also. Pasilan Suutari, 30 Euros. A bit pricey, but I heard that it would be 200 Euro if you lose a key here in my housing company.

Hi, can I have the address for the key duplication? And do I need a letter from the landlord? Thanks

If the patent is expired, no questions are asked. If it is not, the letter will not be sufficient. So it depends on the exact key type.
