I believe you need to show that amount of money every year you renew your permit. It's perfectly legal to deport you if you don't have the funds you should.

As for not having enough credits. Did you prepare a document proving why you don't have enough? Unfortunately only you are responsible for not having enough credits as stated what you should have in your original permit.

I think both of these reasons for denying you your next permit valid.

Good luck.

1: you don't have enough credits.
2: you don't have enough money in your account.
Both reasons in itself are enough to deny a renewal of your residence permit.
The lack of money might be solved quickly, but not the lack of credits.
For an appeal to be successful you need to solve both problems. Or have a very convincing story for the missing credits. Changing studies in itself is not a good enough reason.
You can try an appeal but I think that will be denied too. During the appeal you can stay and continue studying, but as soon as it's denied you have to leave, even if it's in the middle of the study season.
Or you can go home now, apply for a new residence permit and start again next summer. (make sure the school agrees on the interruption of the study)

You mentioned the police asked about your money. How much did you have in Nov? Because if you borrow money from a friend when you are making the application and then transfer the amount out of your account right after that, the immigration police might think you don't have enough fund of your own. I know a friend who did this and got rejected for visa renewal. He even asked for help from the embassy of his home country but still had to leave Finland. Of course then he re-applied for the visa abroad and came back.

@rinso: If I go home before the day they deport me, can I apply resident permit for the next summer ? Because as far as I understand, they will make a ban from 3 months to 3 years ?

@saika: In September I have 6750E, in November I have about 5500E. It's my own money and I don't transfer to anyone, sure I spend 1200E and it's for home, eating and living expense. And Saika, how long can your friend apply for new resident permit ?

If you leave of your free will and you haven't lied in your application there probably will not be a ban. (I mentioned it earlier because you hadn't supplied enough information to judge the situation)

@rinso: so I can leave without telling police that I leave Finland ? and then I can apply again in my home country. Does the deportation decision affect at all ?

It would be wise to tell them that you are leaving so the don't think you're in hiding.
If you leave it is not a deportation.

Its not "deportation" its "refusing entry"... Which doesn't sound too logical if you are already in the country, but legally "deportation" is when you get packed into an airplane in handcuffs guantanamo-style after a court order. And yes, you should tell the police what you're doing as they won't necessarily stamp your passport leaving the Schengen so you might get into trouble later on.

The uni/polytechnics are usually quite lenient/understanding but the flower-hatted aunties don't understand when they say yes the police say no and being 'nice' they actually get people into trouble.

If you walk over border to russia and wont get caught. If someone stamps your passport then they do know.

I think my friend applied right after he left Finland. And although I am not 100% sure but I think he was applying based on the same studying position. After all, I saw him again in the campus continuing his study a couple of months later.

thank you guys, for all your advises, it helps me a lot when I'm really stress about this. I guess I will try to talk reason with them one more time, if they still remain their decision then I will come back home a couple of months and apply again.

Happy new year and wish all the best to you !

Money- So i think its possible to find a job or ask a friend or relative.
The same way money goes out , money comes in.
Go to poliisi with updated info , bring you bank statements with the date of original application corresponding to bank statement date.Show updated info of new money coming in.
You only need to talk with data here,no more.
One less problem!

Credits- Same deal, dont talk dribble, talk with data.
Prove on paper with data your claim is justified.

This is the efficient system, anyone who doesnt seem to fit in this efficient system becomes a thorn people like to remove.
