I've lived in Finland for 4 years and I've always had trouble when I go to salons and have my hair colored. Cutting is almost always fine, but there seems to be some major difficulty with coloring. I describe, I show pictures (not only of models, but of previous colors I myself have had) but it never comes out as I ask and I can't figure out why.
I used to see a girl who, no matter what I asked for (light/dark/highlights/lowlights, whatever), would explain that they couldn't do it "this time" and bleach my hair bottle blonde. I got tired of paying 125€ a visit and after a year I finally found a new girl. I visited her today and showed her a very clear picture of what I wanted, she agreed and said no problem... and in the end, it wasn't what I asked for. AFTER SHE WAS DONE she explained that she couldn't do it like in the picture because she would have had to dye it differently, etc etc. She said I could come back next week to correct it, but I'd have to pay for the correction as well as the visit today.
I don't have any difficult hair type and I am not asking for anything incredibly demanding! What is happening? I really can't see where I'm going wrong, and these are nicer salons with tons of customers. Is there a cultural thing I need to know about? Some secret I'm not understanding?
