Pre Primary Education

Post by sowmyabalajee » Wed Jan 08, 2014 12:11 pm

Friends,

My daughter is going to start her Pre-School this year... (2014).

Can anyone tell me what are the available English based public pre schools? I searched the related sites... But wanted to know which one is the best irrespective of the area...

Also I would like to know available English based private schools which will coach up for the Primary school admissions...

Thank you,

Regards,
Sowmya Balajee

What you are talking about?

What is "coach for primary school"?

Everyone, i mean everyone, are in primary school.

Hello Onkko,

What I meant 'coach up' is pre schools who will coach up for entering primary schools. They conduct an Entrance test for Bilingual schools....

I know what you mean. Yes, there is a selection process for bilingual schools, though I'm not sure it is an "entrance examination" as such. When my children took it, no reading or writing was involved - just drawing and an interview. (BTW, ignore onkko, he has little value to add to most discussions. He's what is commonly known as a troll, and a few other things as well. And his English is so chronic that half the time it's impossible to work out what he's trying to say)

Since you have not received any replies on here (and my own information is way out of date) I think the best thing you can do is select a few of the daycares that you are interested in (eg the ones nearest to where you live, or easiest to get to) and you arrange to visit them and then you can get a look at the place and also ask some questions. The most important thing is that your child is comfortable and happy there as that will have as big an impact on his learning and development as any "coaching" he may receive.

I would say the most important thing is that your child feels comfortable chatting in English and has a good range of vocabulary. The best thing you can do at home is read books with him and then chat about them, ask him to describe the pictures to you, encourage him to talk about the things he likes and dislikes etc.

Hello

Out of Helsinki there is the international School of Vantaa. The daycare is by the school and the language is English. Admission to any english school is not guaranteed as all children need to pass the english test.

Regarding day care, beware that you need to live in the same area, as far as I remember

Hope this helps

This is not America ;)

I don't believe there is any such "coaching" things for young children.

It's tough to get into these English schools, really tough. So good luck.
