HI! I am moving to Finland from London and would need to find a trustworthy "man and a van" service to move my things. Can anyone help? Cheers!

Have you thought of contacting a regular removal company? I strongly doubt that I could do a job like that with a van anything like as cost-effectively as with the removals company that I work for as my full-time job. My wages, fuel and the ferry costs would be all down to you - rather than split between the half dozen or so customers that I'd have on a regular work tour (albeit with a much bigger vehicle).

My last two work trips have both involved jobs to and from the UK - I was there last week, and although the winter is very much the quietest time of the year we'd be pretty sure to have a vehicle there every couple of weeks or so even now. PM me if you would like contact details, or you could just Google for a Finnish removals firm that specialises in European / UK moves ;)

I got quotes from a number of man and van operations on Shiply. If you aren't familiar with Shiply, it is a site where transport companies can bid on jobs. I would be careful about checking the companies reviews. I got a quote for a full load from York to central Finland for £1600. I ended up using a container, because I was worried my cargo would be over the GVW limitations on the van, and I wanted to use a more respected shipper for peace of mind. If you don't have bulky items a courier is a good option. ipostparcels is £17.99 for a 50cm X 50cm x 60cm 25KG parcel. If you have semi bulky items I recall a pallet service is around £200.
