Our refrigerator is consuming too much electricity. It's net volume is 164/100l,an old Helkama model. I checked and it roughly consumes around 800kwh/year, which is a huge wastage of energy in my opinion. Compareable new models consume less than half of it.
It's a rented appartment, from a big company. How can we force them to change it? It's bad for environment and it's bad for electricity bills as well.

You cannot "force" them to change it, as long as it's in a working condition, and even if broken, you have no say in the replacement. Of course you're free to buy your own and stop using the one that came with the apartment.
