I travelled from vantaa to helsinki last week, a trip that involved a bus, a train and another bus. For this trip you can buy a "regional" ticket when boarding the first bus in vantaa that is valid for 80 minutes and this is valid for that bus, the train to helsinki and a bus in helsinki. All this can normally be done in 80 minutes (the 80 minute deadline is for boarding a bus/train, you don't have to have reached your destination by then, only be onboard the last bus/train of your trip).
A word of warning though that the 80 minutes expires regardless of any delays on the route. So if the train trip from vantaa to helsinki that normally takes 15 minutes becomes over an hour, you will have to buy another ticket once you get to helsinki.
It is a bit of a cheek that delays caused by VR or bus companies mean you might pay MORE for your trip (on top of getting to your destination much later).
public transport tickets and travel delays
Re: public transport tickets and travel delays
If you embark on a gurney like that just buy a day ticket, do not be a cheapskate
but being serious it is a problem, though I believe that if your ticket is still valid at the moment of embarkation on the last bus - it is still ok (correct me if I am wrong).

What do you want from me?????
