45 credits/ year??
45 credits/ year??
Hi All, I am a lil bit confused here. I am a masters student here in finland and my study right is from 2014-2018 and i plan to use the whole 4 years. I heard i need 45 credit per year to renew. how true is this? because going by my study right i think it should be 30/year. i have done close to 60 credits now. is it possible to skip school next year? will that affect my renewal in 2016? Thanks

The best way is to inquire your program consular - or - directly from immigration services - you can send them anonymous email.sirkezman wrote:Hi All, I am a lil bit confused here. Are you studying at University or University of Applied Sciences - because it may differ based on master programs at various universities. By rule the University master program is for 3 years and UAS masters for 2 years - depending your personal study program that you mutually agreed upon with your head of dept. may explain some unanswered questions.
You had been given an extra year (2018) so that after graduation (as per schedule your studies ends by 2017) - so 2018 the additional year is for work - provided if you find work.
I'm gonna make him an offer he can't refuse. I'm gonna grant him all my old underwears that fit his head helping his nose stays in place
Re: 45 credits/ year??
The idea behind it is to finish the study as quick as possible so an other student can take the place when you're finished.
Migri or police does look at your study score for renewing your RP.
It is best to get an answer from Migri or police themselves about your planning. But make sure you get it in writing. It is not uncommon that they give you an answer over the phone just to get rid of you. The guy who treats your application isn't bound by what a colleague (or secretary) said on the phone.

There are two different laws at play here. The police looks at the application from the perspective of the Aliens Act. On that basis they have the guideline for 45 credits. The university follows your progress based on the University Act which has more lax requirements. The only way for you to make use of the 4 years is to apply for some other type of residence permit. If you want to skip school then you need to consider applying for a work based residence permit.sirkezman wrote:Hi All, I am a lil bit confused here.
