Calls from strangers
Calls from strangers
In recent days, I received unsolicited calls from the following numbers:
+358505005099, at 19.58, 23.4
+358504532266, at 11.21, 23.4
+358505005133, at 11.05, 23.4
+358505005119, at 15.08, 22.4
For me, they are strange numbers and unsolicted. Before I know who they are, I will not answer. But it seems that they will not stop yet.
Anyone has any information about these numbers? Are they spammers or scammers? In Finland, what can I do with these calls?

Re: Calls from strangers
This is a very idiotic approach. Yes, it's your opinion and I respect it, but I still think it's idiotic. Delay your rage until the end of this comment; I'll explain below. Before I know who they are, I will not answer.
Back to your question. The highlighted ones are indeed spammers. They belong to a telemarketing company called Enia Oy.
What do you do in that case? I don't know. You do whatever you want. Free country.+358505005099, at 19.58, 23.4

However, what I, a self-described reasonable person, would do is this: Answer the phone, interrupt the person, tell them that you're asking them to never call this number again or you'll make an official complaint against them. By law, they're required to cease communicating with you.
Now, why do I think your approach is idiotic? Because you have no idea who those people are! I once got a call from a strange number and I was asked for a job interview based on word of mouth from an old client. The TE-palvelut once called me to clarify information on with my residence permit application.. also strange number. Jesus, DHL once called me about a package and it was a strange number. I was once called by a police investigator because someone mentioned my name regarding some bar fight where two people were fighting and I happened to be in the same bar.. also strange number.
My point is, a lot of unsolicited calls from strange numbers can end up being important. If it's a spammer harassing you, ask them to stop, 99% of the time they stop.
Every case is unique. You can't measure the result of your application based on arbitrary anecdotes online.
Re: Calls from strangers
nisco, there's no way any harm can come to you by answering those numbers. it is not possible to get scammed by a simple call.
you don't have to blurt out your full name when answering, obviously, but i think people aren't doing that anymore these days anyway.
if the caller is indeed a telemarketer, well just tell them where they can put their stuff in very clear terms and end the converstaion (otherwise they'll just keep on talking).
i totally agree with the facts layed out by the previous poster.

Enia is calling because Elisa wants it to call. If you are Elisa's customer they can call you.adnan wrote:This is a very idiotic approach. Re: Calls from strangers
Thank you for all your reply. In my case, generally I did not have any call from strange numbers for a long time. And these emerged all of a sudden, so I felt a bit astonished. In some reported cases, careless answer to strange calls might cause big loss.
Re: Calls from strangers
That is true. If someone on the street offers you some smack, pay next week, you may be in for a big loss. Same with agreeing to anything on the phone that you don't understand or need.nisco wrote:In some reported cases, careless answer to strange calls might cause big loss.

Re: Calls from strangers
Pick the phone and politely ask them to explain their deal in english - rest assured they will never bother you again

I'm gonna make him an offer he can't refuse. I'm gonna grant him all my old underwears that fit his head helping his nose stays in place
Re: Calls from strangers
not by simply answering the phone.nisco wrote:In some reported cases, careless answer to strange calls might cause big loss.
returning a call, maybe. or sending text messages. or giving personal information.
but not by just answering a call.
