Holiday bonus entitlement after resignation

Post by snowfrog » Thu Apr 23, 2015 11:02 pm

Hi,

I am trying to work out if I would be entitled to my holiday bonus if I left my job at the end of July. There is no information in English on the company's intranet but I found this in Finnish:
Työntekijän on ennen palvelussuhteen päättymistä pidettävä lomana jäljellä olevat ns. vanhat lomapäivät.
I know because of Google Translate that it is about holidays and holiday bonuses and resignation but the translation is rather... loose. I also can't ask at work because I think that my inquiry would reach my boss and, at this stage, I don't want them to know as I may stay longer anyway. Could someone clarify the details please?

Thanks in advance.

It says you should try to take your holiday for the current period before the end of the employment. If that is not possible they should pay your for it. Holidays accrued for winter or next summer holidays they cannot force you to take now and should pay you for those.

Holiday bonus is paid to you unless you have already been paid it (sometimes the holiday bonus is paid in set months and not actually linked to when you take your holiday).

How long have you been in your job? Is it a permanent contract? I seem to remember this also impacts holiday-pay calculations.

For short-term or temporary contracts I think the holiday pay is systematically paid at the end of the contract. And there is a deadline for paying it but I can't remember what it is.

You will be paid for remaing holidays - yes (if you are lucky and not will be forced to go to vacation).
50% bonus - you have to get more detailed information, there is a big chance that you will NOT get money for example for winter vacation or even more.

Thanks to every body for the answers.

I've been in my job for 3 years BUT it is a temporary contract. My bosses have agreed in principles to let me go before the end of my contract but I can't see anything on the intranet covering the rights of employees on temporary contracts to keep - or not - their holiday bonuses. I just hope that the same rules will apply...
