20+ days enough to apply for RP renewal?
I've heard two sides to the story of how early one should apply for RP renewal. However, these stories are from people who didn't experience my situation themselves. My situation: I'm leaving for my home country for about 2.5 months, to be with my family and to arrange for some money for my 2nd year studies expenses. I'm returning on 3rd August, and my RP is gonna expire on August 28. So will I face any problem(s) if I were to apply for renewal within those 20+ days? Some guy said that I will be given a lot of trouble at the Helsinki airport on my return seeing that I have only 20+ days of valid stay in Finland. But others tell me that one can renew even 1 day before expiration. So I'd appreciate it if guys who have better knowledge in these matters can help me out here. Thanks.

I don't see any problem with your plan. When you return, your permit is still valid. Residence continues to be legal while a renewal application is pending.prabhatdreamz wrote:I've heard two sides to the story of how early one should apply for RP renewal. Problems and confusion arise from the fact that you can be here legally while your RP application is processed, but customs and airline don't know about the processing, they care only about if you have permit or not.betelgeuse wrote:I don't see any problem with your plan. RP renewal is not always a 20 days story - this can take long at times when there are new applicants hitting the same road too

I'm gonna make him an offer he can't refuse. I'm gonna grant him all my old underwears that fit his head helping his nose stays in place

"Customs" is interested in the contents of your suitcase. Border control sees a valid permit and passport and IS satisfied. Airline has fulfilled its obligations when the passanger has the necessary documents to enter Finland legally. It is no longer their problem if that person later fails or is unable to apply for permit extension.Upphew wrote:but customs and airline don't know about the processing, they care only about if you have permit or not.
