Parking question

Post by biz_it » Mon May 04, 2015 12:18 am

Hi,

I am a new driver and have a question regarding parking. A friend told me that I should set the parking desk/clock to the nearest half an hour. For example, If I arrive at 13:01, I should set the parking clock at 13:30.

Here is my question. Some parking spaces allow only 15 minutes, but If I follow this rule, I arrive at 13:01, set the clock at 13:30 and then 15 minutes parking time, which means that I am practically taking 44 minutes at the parking space. Is that really allowed or have I somehow misunderstood the rule?

Sorry, one more question regarding the parking. If the Parking sign says 24h and then there is this paid sign with it, does it mean that we have to pay anytime including weekends if we park a car there. I am specifically asking about the parking near Linnamaki because I saw this kind of sign first time. Usually, the parking says 9-5 etc but a 24h with paid sign, I saw it first time. Does the payment include weekends or not for such signs.

Usually, if they want to be paid on weekends, they have separate timing in brackets for saturday and sunday but in this specific sign, it was only 24h and a paid sign.

what do you mean by "paid sign" ?

do you mean one of the symbols here http://www.expat-finland.com/pdf/finnis ... _signs.pdf described as "parking against a fee"?

The only time i've seen 24h mentioned is with a parking sign (page 6 "parking place") with 24h under it. This meant free parking 24h/day unlimited time to park.

Like this one?

Image

0-24 = Mon-Fri (whole day)
(0-24) = Sat (whole day)
0-24 = Sun (whole day)

I think it was the symbal that means parking against fee (not the parking clock sign but the sign that means parking against fee) and also had 24h sign which also confused me because I thought 24h would mean a free parking but then the sign of parking against fee confused me.

I might have misread it so will confirm again or if someone has recently visited linnanmaki, they can confirm what kind of parkings are available there. Its basically a parking down the slope close to linnanmaki gate

You should be able to find the sign with Google Street View and post a link or screen shot.

24h with a parking signs means maximum 24 hours of allowed parking, that is you may be fined if your car stays there for example 25 hours.

= "long" term parking, but not for storage of cars.
