YTK for a student?
YTK for a student?
Hi, after working in Finland for almost two years now (1,5 as a member of YTK) I got into school -starting this August, monday-friday school. Obviously because of that I won't be able to work anymore, at least not full-time. Does anyone knows if in that case I can apply for any kind of benefits from kassa? I wouldn't like to quit my job completely and maybe working sometimes on weekends. Does it work in cases like this too?

What she^ said. Also note that you won't be eligible for the unemployment allowance if you are a full-time student, either. You're either a) unemployed or b) full-time student, can't be both.
(With the exception of some cases that are mentioned on TE-toimisto website http://www.te-services.fi/te/en/jobseek ... index.html where you can e.g. finish your previous studies while being unemployed/if you've been unemployed for some time, to increase your employability but that's not the norm - and as always, has lots of restrictions.)
You may perhaps get student benefit from Kela, depending greatly what/where you study etc. And student benefits being so small, I'd warmly recommend working part-time if you have the chance. Kela.fi has the exact amounts and other info.

There's no waiting time for student benefits.tummansininen wrote: By the way, OP, quitting a job will mean you not only can't get unemployment fund money, you will probably also be subject to a penalty waiting period from Kela on the standard Labour Market Subsidy (Kela basic unemployment, which anyone gets even without an unemployment fund). You might also have a waiting time to get student money because of this.
