Hi everyone!
I've been living & working in Finland for 5+ years under a work contract goverened by the "Collective Agreement IT Service Sector" (
http://www2.teknologiateollisuus.fi/en/ ... ments.html). My company pays a holiday bonus once per year - this year on 15.06.2015.
I'm hoping to accept a different job soon. If I get the job, I'll need to give my company notice of employment termination, then work my 1 month termination period.
My question is, if I hand in my termination notice on 11.05.2015, my employment would end on 11.06.2015 and so several days before the 15.06.2015 salary payment date. Would my company still need to pay me the holiday bonus on the 16.06.2015 in this scenario please?

Thank you

What a confidence! Somebody else is in the same exact situation as you!

The other guy is interested in "lomakorvaus" or "holiday compensation" which he is entitled to. Question here is about "lomaraha" or "holiday bonus" and my (non-lawyer) reading of TES is that 'finnishEmployee2015' won't get that.

Yes I noticed a few posts recently on here relating to holiday earning but their situations/issues/questions were different to mine.
Thank you for the answers so far - from speaking with friends I'm finding similar responses. Some saying yes, others no depending on who I speak to

I wish they'd make this clear in the actual agreement itself. @Rip: your answer it what I'm leaning to right now & I'm thinking of speaking with the new company to delay the start date should they call me. Thank you. It'd be interesting to hear once & for all if there are any lawyers or collective agreement drafting employees on these forums to learn without a doubt where people like me stand on this

You can just send en email to your union's legal team. I usually get answers on these type of questions in less than 48 hours.

Perhaps you should wait till you get that phone call before ringing HR
Don't want your current employer to get wind of your plan and fail at getting the new job.
Good luck!

I always thought that the"holiday bonus" is paid for coming back to work from the actual holiday.
So i suppose you earn your holiday credit for that month anyway, no need to hang around.

I always thought it was so you'd have a little extra to spend during the holiday season

As far as I understand you collect vacation days (or extra pay instead of holidays) over the employment year. Thus if you live in the middle of the year , they still have to pay you or give you paid holiday time.....
What do you want from me?????
