Buy used car

Post by jorgetiagosantos » Thu May 07, 2015 9:13 pm

Hello.

I am thinking about buying a cheap used car. After some research I found ones that pleases me, but since I am not a car expert, I have some questions. The car is a Nissan Micra from 99.

I asked the car history from autorekisteri.fi. It raised some questions:

- It shows that the car was owned by Nordea Bank from 07.04.2006 to 06.02.2007. I wonder what this means? The car had a bad accident and the insurance company payed its market value to the owner and got the ownership of the car?

- Between 2008 and 2012, the car failed several inspections (it was approved only in the scond inspection. However, since 2012 it passed always at the 1st try. What you think?

I attach the car report. You can see some issues that should worry me?

Best,
Jorge Santos

Impossible to say without seeing and fully inspecting the car. For that you need to know what you're doing, or have someone with you that does. Do NOT buy a car without knowing in which condition it is in and do NOT rely on the information from the seller. Failed inspections really don't mean anything, it could be just that the owner took the car to the inspection to see what needed to be fixed, as opposed to making sure the car was in good condition in advance.

you can take the car to A-Katsastus centres and get it checked for a small fee. That can give a little idea on the car fitness alleast.
