Appealing for rejected citizenship desicion

Post by karilog » Mon May 11, 2015 6:54 pm

Hi,

I would like to know how expensive in time and effort would it cost me to appeal on my decision for citizenship which was negative. One thing is that I made my application is Swedish and for the language requirement I failed to meet in all the parts of the tests a level 3. I got a supplement request that I needed to meet this requirement and I only could add some old language certificates of Finnish language that I completed back in 2008, they are, the old level 3 and 4 finnish for foreigners but I did quite good on them 4 out of 5. Anyway, my background is that I have been living here almost 8 years, single with no family ties whatsoever. First I was student then I became employed and I met the necessary period of residency, I have been employed since 2009 and I pay taxes with no debts or any criminal record. I honestly do not find the time due to my work to concentrate on the language even though I have demonstrated a decent level of command of both Swedish and Finnish. So Finally my application took almost a year and got his result. Could somebody advice me on what to do? I just feel that I would like to appeal on this decision, do you think that I could make them reconsider my case?

Thank you for whatever input you might have.

Karl

Don't see there are much grounds for you to appeal. After 8 years you should know the rules are how they are written and not how you "think" they are. "All parts are 3" vs. "All parts are not 3". Can you tell the difference? They're only interested in that. And it says, "Finnish or Swedish", not a combination of both...

Of course you can appeal... with puppy eyes in front of the mirror... if I was you I'd invest the money on a few evening courses at Arbis instead of a lawyer. They can't make a 2 into a 3 but they will charge you a sum with 2 or 3 zeroes...
